Thanoj nets winner as Boston United beat youthful Huddersfield Town side

Andi Thanoj scored the winner and chipped in with two assists as Boston United won 3-2 at a youthful Huddersfield Town side this afternoon.

Ex-Pilgrims loanees Demeaco Duhaney and Aaron Rowe lined up for the Terriers, alongside on-loan Manchester United keeper Joel Pereira.

A lightning start saw the Pilgrims lead 2-0 within the opening six minutes.

After Jay Rollin' early effort was saved by Pereira Jordan Burrow put the away side ahead in the third minute, glancing home Andi Thanoj's delivery.

Before the Terriers had time to catch their breath, Luke Shiels doubled that advantage, thumping home a Thanoj free kick.

Back came the hosts, playing at their Canalside Sports Complex training venue, with Kieran Phillips forcing a save from Peter Crook.

Boston almost made it three when Jordan Thewlis' effort struck the post, before Pereira was called upon to deny Burrow.

When Phillips charged down Crook's clearance the Pilgrims keper was relieved to see the ball strike the woodwork, but the hosts reduced the arrears through Mustapha Olagunji's header in the 34th minute.

The second half saw Thanoj strike the inside of the Terriers post before Huddersfield levelled from the spot, Jaden Brown sending Ross Fitzsimons the wrong way just past the hour mark.

Jordan Archer came within a whisker of putting Boston back in front, but a left-footed drive from Thanoj settled the contest for the Pilgrims in the 67th minute.
