Craig Elliott described Boston United’s Guiseley stalemate as ‘most one-sided 1-1 draw you’ll ever see’.

Nathan Newell’s equaliser deep into stoppage time earned the visitors a point in a contest which the hosts had dominated long before Terry Hawkridge’s free kick opened the scoring.

Although frustrated his side couldn’t make it four straight wins this season, Elliott was pleased with how his side competed.

“Performance-wise I was really impressed with lots of our play tonight,” he told bufc.co.uk.“I thought it was as good as we’ve played actually for a few games.

“It’s the most one-sided 1-1 draw you’ll ever see.”

Victory would have seen United go joint top with Gloucester City and Chester, but the United boss remains pragmatic.

“That’s football. I just said that to them, we’re learning lessons and growing as a group,” Elliott continued.

“From that it’s very easy to point the finger and say we should have defended it better, but ultimately we’ve drawn tonight’s game because we didn’t take enough chances.

“We’ve dominated from start to finish in my opinion, and fully deserved to win the game.

“We’re looking for consistency and to get better as a group all the time.

“We went to Leamington and probably didn’t create as many chances and won 4-0.

“Fair play to Guiseley they did what they had to to get the point, but if we keep playing like that we’ll win more than we’ll lose.”
