Andi Thanoj is remaining at Boston United with his sights set firmly on promotion, manager Craig Elliott has revealed.

Now he wants to build upon 2020's play-of final defeat and last season's promising start before the campaign was axed.

"We got it done very quickly, he wants to bring success to Boston," Elliott said.

"He feels we've been close a couple of times and he wants to do that this season.

"I've got a lot of time for Andi, we've had a good relationship since I've been at Boston and he's somebody again who I can trust.

"He knows me, I know him and for this level of football he's a top player. There aren't many better than him in terms of how he plays and what he brings.

"Again, he's somebody I expect a lot of goals and assists from next year."

Thanoj joined the Pilgrims from Redditch in December 2017, Elliott's fourth permanent signing at the club.

The midfielder's laid back manner may set him apart from his teammates, but Elliot believes that is a major factor in making Thanoj the player he is.

"That's been my learning curve sometimes, because I want everyone to be up for it and motivated," Elliott said.

"That doesn't mean to say he doesn't care - he does. But the manner he carries himself in training and games makes him the good player he is.

"He very rarely gets flustered, but at this level he's played a good number of years and he's very experienced. A top, top player."

Thanoj's deadball expertise will once again be a welcome addition to the Pilgrims' arsenal.

Elliott continued: "We were pretty good from set pieces last year and he plays a big part in that.

"His deliveries are fantastic and I think he's one of the best in the league with the chances he creates.

"It's a big weapon for us."
