Things looking up for Ryton Park

And the girls from Ryton Park triumphed yet again.

Four evenly matched schools found goals hard to come by and the first game between Prospect Hill and Ordsall produced the only two goal victory of the competition when a Jamie-Lea Grace double gave Prospect their first three points.

Holders Ryton Park had to rely on a single strike by the outstanding Maddy Cooper to win their first game against the slick passing of the Holy Family Girls before another Jamie Lea goal for Prospect and an equaliser from Holy Family’s Pippa Chalmers resulted in a draw.

Ryton Park, holders for the last two years and joint holders in 2009, put themselves in a strong position to retain the title when Kia Wallace hit home from close range to earn another single goal victory, this time against Ordsall.

Ordsall then ensured that all four schools went home with a least a point when they held Holy Family to a goalless draw.

In what amounted to a final showdown Ryton Park retained the title when the inevitable Maddy Cooper broke the deadlock with a super strike to leave Prospect in second place.

The Parry Cup final between Carr Hill and Redlands and the Small Schools cup final featuring Blyth and Gamston will now be played on Thursday, once again at Harworth.
