The 22-year-old, who spent the entire 2012/13 season on loan at Silverlands with former Tigers boss Martin McIntosh, leaves Worksop Town having made 33 appearances for the club.

He originally signed for McIntosh when the Scotsman was Worksop manager, ahead of the 2011/12 season.

But he fell out of favour with McIntosh’s replacement Simon Clark and went on loan to the Bucks, where he impressed sufficiently, picking up a number of awards and playing 51 times in a season and a half.

Last season Roberts won a place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier team of the year.

Tigers official Keith Illet told the Guardian: “It’s a done deal, we’ve been in talks for about three weeks now.”

“It’s a pity to see him go, but he got comfortable at Buxton and obviously gets on well with Martin McIntosh.”

“The whole club wish him well.”
