Tigers sign defender Hawes

WORKSOP Town have added highly rated centre-half Adie Hawes to their new look squad.

The club’s latest big profile signing is 6ft 4ins and moves to the club from Alfreton Town.

Hawes, 24, began his career with Hucknall Town – where he was a team-mate of Tigers defender Luke Shiels – before a spell with Eastwood.

He was signed by Alfreton last summer for an undisclosed fee but negotiated a release from his contract to sign for Simon Clark’s Worksop Town today.

A delighted Clark told the Guardian: “He’s played above this level last year with Alfreton in the Conference Premier and on loan at Altrincham in the Conference North.”

“This is a really good signing for us.”

“He’s got the natural physical attributes that I want in my back four, he can head and tackle and he’s athletic.”

“I’ve brought in four defenders and they will all add to us.”

Hawes is the fourth player to join Tigers after experiencing football at a higher level last season, joining Leon Mettam, Paul Bastock and Steve Towers.
