Town looking to improve

Sleaford Town's frustrating run of defeats continued with a 2-1 home reverse against Cogenhoe United at the weekend.

Leigh Warman netted a consolation for the Greens, but it was too little too late as the side were already trailing to a brace from the Cooks’ Matthew Long.

Cogenhoe also finished the match with 10 men in this United Counties League Premier Division contest after Luke Stone saw a straight red card.

That result made it five straight losses in all competitions, and seven games without a win for the Greens.

Last Tuesday night Sleaford were dumped out of the Lincs Senior Trophy with a 3-2 loss at league rivals Deeping Rangers.

Ryan Rushen and Joe Smith netted for Town.

But it wasn’t enough as Rangers progressed courtesy of finishes from David Burton-Jones, Henry Dunn and Scott Mooney.

Sleaford’s previous defeats have come at the hands of Harborough Town, Yaxley and Eynesbury Rovers - who they now face on Saturday.

The Greene will be looking to cancel out that 2-1 defeat to Eynesbury at Eslaforde Park this weekend.

Paul Ward’s side currently sit in 15th place in the league table with Eynesbury second, just three points behind leaders Peterborough Sports.

However, Town are desperate to kick start their season again by toppling one of the league highfliers.

Kick off at the Alfred Hall Memorial Ground will be at 3pm.
