Transfer window closes for the Tigers after January’s influx

Tigers have signed strikers Jamie Jackson and Evan Garnett, midfielders Warren Burrell and Marc Goodfellow, and defenders Mark Gray, Jack Broadhead, Tom Burgin and Adam Quinn.

Of those players, Gray and Broadhead are due to return to their respective clubs when their month long loan deals finish.

But the rest are here for the forseeable future, and Shaw says the influx of talent will make the squad better as a whole, and players better individually.

“These aren’t just squad players I’m bringing in,” he told the Guardian.

“They’re here to make us better.”

“Players know they need to be fitter, stronger, they need to get in the gym and look after themselves because we’ve got a very good squad now.”

And he’s unlikely to look for further additions, unless injuries strike.

“That’s just about me done now with signings.”

“We’ve got enough to try and challenge for something.”

He believes that the number of players willing to move to Sandy Lane is evidence that the club are going somewhere.

“It just shows what we’re trying to do, we’re in third place but people are coming here to win something with us,” he said.

“We’re in a point in the season when we’re in a fight and we want to be in the fight all the way to the end – players want to be a part of that.”
