Trinity agree site for new stadium

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity have agreed in principal a price for the land that will host their new home.

Club chairman Peter Swann confirmed on the supporters’ online message board this morning that he had struck a deal for the former Castle Hills site in the town, and revealed some of the proposed facilities to be housed by the stadium.

The businessman said: “We have agreed in principal a price for the land.”

“The site is just under 10 acres and will consist of a stadium with a capacity of 4,500 of which 1000 will be seated, a club shop, office, physio and rehabilitation unit, creche and educational centre, parking, full size 3G football pitch with floodlights, a junior pitch and changing facilities.”

Swann believes the new ground could create part-time and full-time jobs, and insisted local firms would be used in the construction where possible.

He added: “We now sit down and go through the planning process with all the departments and local authorities, exploring the various build options including environmental inclusions such as thermal heating and solar panelling.”

“We expect the initial process to take us to the end of this season with build started next summer for a July 2013 hand over.”
