Trinity aiming forgreat escape sequel

Second-from-bottom Trinity matched National League North leaders Salford City on Saturday, but one lapse in defensive concentration cost them as they lost 1-0.

King, talking ahead of Wednesday night’s crucial rearranged match at relegation rivals Curzon Ashton, said: “Every lad is giving 100%.

“We are showing we are improving and the performances are getting better.

“We are looking more solid as a group.”

Salford won the game in the third minute of stoppage time through Carl Pierganni.

But Trinity played well throughout and three times threatened a first-half goal themselves through Nicky Walker.

In the closing minutes, Michael Jacklin also went close to an equaliser.

King added: “We were disappointed to lose, but there were a lot of positives to take out of it.

“We have given top-of-the-league Salford a good game but things are not dropping for us.

“We had a few chances but we need that bit of luck we are not getting at the minute.

“But we gave a good performance.”

After Wednesday’s match, Trinity have four matches remaining to save their National League North status.

They begin on Saturday with a home match against play-off chasing York City.

Manager Lee Sinnott said: “ We put a lot into the game.

“It was on a knife-edge at times and Salford will know they have been in a game.

“I am proud of the players. We have come to the top of the league and have asked them a few questions.

“On another day we might have been able to find the back of the net.

“After playing a lot of the top six in recent weeks, that should help us over the final few games.”
