Smith, 32, is returning for a second stint with the Holy Blues, having first played for them in the 20087/09 season.

Smith has played well over 300 games in the National League North and higher.

Also back for a second stint with Trinity is Simon Russell on a free transfer from North Ferriby, having left the Northolme for Ferriby 18 months ago.

Russell captained Ferriby in their first season in the Conference Premier said the situation there meant it was time to move on.

Frecklington said he was delighted to land his experienced signings.
