Trinity rout the Rovers

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity hammered a makeshift Doncaster Rovers side on Tuesday night on the Northolme, securing an impressive 4-0 victory.

The Blues opened the scoring after just three minutes, as Dominic Roma found Ex Lincoln City striker Richard Pasquett unmarked inside the six-yard-area and he headed a bullet into the net.

Trinity’s second came on 17 minutes, Paul Connor was as surprised as anyone else in the ground when Ryan Williams’ ball eluded everyone directly in front of goal and fell nicely to the front man, who poked it into the bottom left hand corner.

Steve Housham’s men found themselves 3-0 up after the break, Jamie Yates and Williams combining well down the right hand side, allowing Yates to produce a low cross for Shane Clarke, who made no mistake from five yards out.

Goalscorer and substitute Clarke then produced a moment of magic, cutting in from the left 30 yards out and smashing a screamer into the top right hand corner of the net to complete the rout.

The result means the Blues are undefeated in 11 pre-season friendly outings.
