Triumphant Tigers return

Worksop Town haven’t played at home in league action since 11th September, and their away form has been nothing short of stellar.

Trips to Bootle, Nantwich, Buxton and Stalybridge have all ended in wins for Worksop, who have scored 16 goals in the process.

Saturday sees them finally return to Sandy Lane, where Shaw insists they have ‘demons’ to deal with against Witton Albion.

In a week that saw his men crowned Evo-Stik Northern Premier Club of the Month, he told the Guardian: “It’s very important that we get three points on Saturday.”

“We’ve got a couple of little demons to deal with, because in our last two league home games we’ve conceded 10 goals.”

Shaw wants to inspire Worksop Town’s ‘home’ support as much as the travelling fans, who’ve been treated to six points and two FA Cup wins on the road in the last three weeks.

“We’ve got to get the home support back on side with us,” he said.

“The away support has been unreal, I’ve never been at a club where the away support was so vocal and encouraging.”

“But we’ve got to get back to winning ways at home.”

Despite the fantastic form that has placed Tigers just three points shy of the play-off places and propelled them into the third qualifying round of the FA Cup, Shaw says he’s not completely satisfied.

“We want to keep the run going,” he said.

“We’re in a little run of form and I would like to turn uit into a big run.”

“We’re not going to sit on the fact that we’re team of the month, we’re not satisfied with where we are.”

To that end, the manager confirmed that they’re still planning to strengthen the squad, with seven-day approaches going in for a couple of players at least.

“We want to improve the squad, but the policy is still bringing in young players, the right players who fit the dynamic of the group.”
