The event, which will take place on April 24, will see teams from around the county and further afield invited to take part.

Walking football for the over 50s has lots of benefits - helping participants to stay fit, active and healthy.

It can also improve strength, increase core stability, help you lose or maintain your weight and muscles, and improve balance.

It is also a great way for people to meet others and great way to socialise

“Since launching our Walking Football sessions last summer as part of our Sport England Active Pilgrims project, it has fast become one of our most popular sessions, with up to 28 people turning up to take part,” said tournament co-ordinator Holly Maidens.

“We hope the tournament will be a good opportunity to showcase walking football and provide players with the opportunity to socialise, as well as play at the Boston United stadium.“
