Holbeach United goalkeeper Ricky Drury wrote his name in FA Cup folklore at the weekend - now the Tigers shot-stopper wants to take it a step further by dumping Worcester City out of this season’s competition.

The Tigers travel to the Blues’ temporary home of Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium for a second qualifying round replay on Tuesday night after Drury earned his side a second bite of the cherry with a stunning overhead kick in stoppage-time on Saturday.

Drury said: “We feel really confident that we can go to Worcester and get a result.

“We know what they are about and if we work together and stick at it we know we can cause them problems.

“We are proud of what we have achieved as a club so far and we want to carry that on and go as far as we possibly can.”

On his spectacular strike, Drury added: “I got the call from the bench. I think they wanted me to take the free-kick to start with but they sent me further forward.

“Nobody picked me up. I just threw my foot at it and it went into the bottom corner.

“It’s probably the biggest day of my career. Playing for Boston United before coming to Holbeach was special but this has topped that.

“Playing in the FA Cup is something you dream of, let alone scoring a goal in the last minute with a bicycle kick. It doesn’t get any better than that.”

Drury’s heroics at both ends of the pitch earned him praise from former West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City striker Lee Hughes who he denied earlier in the half with a save out of the top drawer.

He explained: “Lee came and shook my hand at the end of the game and congratulated me on my goal and my saves.

“He has had a fantastic career out of the game, so to be praised and recognised by somebody like that is something that I will never forget.”

Holbeach manager Darren Jarvis said: “Saturday was a stand-out day for the club and we’ll enjoy it. But what we now have to do – very quickly – is get ready for the replay.

“There’s now a big difference for us going into that replay. Before Saturday, our players wondered if they could get a result.

“Now we know that we can – and we’ll go there looking to win. I’m sure Worcester will give us the respect we deserve after this too.”
