Watts sparks defensive performance

The 23-year-old defender made his debut in the 2-0 win over Hyde on Saturday and helped his new club keep a clean sheet after spending two seasons at Sincil Bank

And the former Fulham youth admits he has enjoyed his first couple of training sessions on the Northolme and is not concerned by dropping down a division.

Watts said: “I must have been training for about two weeks now and I knew a couple of the lads already from my time at Lincoln.”

“Things weren’t going right for me at Lincoln and I wanted to play football. There were a couple of other clubs interested but this is only up the road for me because I have got a house in Lincoln.”

“Housh (Steve Housham, Blues boss) told me to come in and train, he said he would have a look at me and that’s how the move happened.”

“I’m fine about (dropping divisions) but I don’t think there is a lot of difference between the Blue Square Bet Premier and North anyway.”

Watts became Chris Sutton’s first signing as Imps manager in October 2010 before making the move permanent in January last year.
