We need to express ourselves on the pitch - says Boston United keeper Fabian Spiess

That is the opinion of goalkeeper Fabian Spiess.

The Pilgrims number one believes the club can still book their place in the end-of-season play-offs by ending the campaign in the top five.

However, despite having faith in the squad, he knows success won’t come easy in the National League North.

“We have to improve,” he said.

“We need to start playing better than we have done in recent weeks.

“I don’t think we’ve been good enough in a few games.”

Spiess (pictured) believes that the Pilgrims have enough talent in the squad to earn a top-five finish, and he feels that if the whole team plays to its strengths then success could be round the corner.

“We need to express ourselves more, make more chances and create more chances,” he added.

“We need to try to keep clean sheets.

“We need to be more solid at the back.”

The keeper - who has previously had spells with Notts County, Torquay United and Alfreton Town - arrived at Boston desperate for regular first-team football.

And he says that featuring regularly for the Pilgrims is keeping him hungry.

“I am really enjoying playing every week, it is why I came here,” he added.

“I think my performances have been to quite a high standard.

“At the end of the day, I’m enjoying it and that’s the main thing, you have to enjoy it.

“I really want to play for Boston and I want us to get into the play-offs and win promotion.

“These are crunch matches. We’ve let ourselves down a little bit in the last few weeks.”
