White Horse heading out of the cup thanks to shock result

Cup matches took over the Gainsborough Sunday Football League this Sunday with the second round of the Sporting,President’s and Junior Cups taking place, each division’s own cup competition.

The biggest shock was in the Sporting Cup with Epworth beating the previously undefeated White Horse.

The tie between Mattersey and Leverton was 1-1 after extra time before Mattersey won on penalties, while Real Canutes and Kings Arms had comfortable wins to progress to the semi-finals.

The Presidents Cup matches went to form with Liberal Branch,Real Canutes O30s and Olde Sun recording easy wins while Gate Inn had a tough game with Bridon AFC before edging the match 3-2.

In the Junior Cup the in-form Notts Diagonals beat Smiffys United 4-2, Horse and Jockey eased to a 5-1 victory over Morton, while Kings Arms Res and Black Horse recorded narrow wins over Owston Ferry and Ingleby Arms, respectively, to make the semi-finals.

The only league game was in Division Two where East Markham’s recent revival came to an end when they lost 2-1 at home to BRSA.

King and Miller did themselves proud by beating Ravo Vallencano 2-1 in the Notts County Cup.
