The Lincolnshire trained Local Hero is the only horse to have won Market Rasen’s two feature hurdle races in the same year, but that record could well be equalled in the feature race at the tracks behind closed doors meeting today.

It was back in 2012 that Local Hero, trained by Steve Gollings near Louth claimed the Summer Hurdle at the flagship July meeting and then followed up in the Prelude Hurdle two

months later- albeit by a very narrow margin.

Now Red Force One, who carried the colours of Sir Alex Ferguson to victory with a runaway success in the Betway Summer Hurdle is entered for the double, the Thank You Rand Farm

Park Prelude Hurdle.

He’s one of 23 entries, and Harry Cobden, who rode the horse last time is again set to take the ride.

A really competitive line up seems assured, with the joint top weights Beyond the Clouds, a relatively recent arrival at trainer Charlie Longsdon’s yard having moved from the top flat

stable of Kevin Ryan and Highly Prized who was fifth in the Summer Hurdle.

The possible also include Caius Marcius, the winner of the race two years ago for the Cumbria stable of Nicky Richards and Market Rasen specialist Earl of the Cotswolds.

He’s set to represent the Twiston- Davies family as he is trained by Grand National winning trainer Nigel, with elder son Sam booked to ride and younger son Willy one of the part

owners. The six year old has run six times at the track, winning three times and being runner up twice.

The card on Saturday starts at 12.35 and also includes a valuable chase, with 29 horses entered in the Thank You Ferry Ales Brewery Handicap Chase.

The entire card is being shown live on Market Rasen’s Broadcast Partner, Racing TV.
