Wongers are set for a Lilywhites double

The Wongers will face defending champions Skegness Town in back-to-back contests, before consecutive cup semi-finals at bogey team Wyberton.

Horncastle travel to the Vertigo Stadium on Saturday (KO 3pm) before hosting the return Balcan Lighting Lincolnshire League fixture at The Wong just seven days later.

And with both sides still in with a chance of claiming the title, the two meetings promise to be entertaining East Lindsey derbies as they face one another for the first times this season.

“It’s a massive month, but these are the games you want to play in,” Shinn told The News.

“They’re tough games but we’re not going to back down.”

The Lilywhites have recently welcomed goalscorer Will Britton back to their ranks after his stint at Boston Town, while Andy Parish and Alex Nichols have also returned.

“A lot of their players have left and are coming back just as we play them twice,” Shinn added.

“But that’s just how it goes in football.

“If you want to be up there you have to beat the strongest sides.

“Skeg are a good team but they’re not unbeatable.

“It’s about how we do on the day.

“Touch wood everyone will be ok this month, we can’t afford any injuries.”

After their two contests against Skegness, Horncastle’s quest for silverware will continue at the Causeway.

They face Wyberton in the Supplementary Cup on March 17 and the Challenge Cup on March 24.

Horncastle were beaten 3-2 in their league match at The Causeway and played out a goalless draw in their recent meeting with the Villagers at The Wong.

Town beat Brigg Town Development Squad 5-1 on Saturday.

But the readjusted league table, following the recent resignation of AFC Boston from the running, means Town are now two points behind leaders Ruston Sports and have played a game more than their title rivals.
