Worst ever defeat for Dinnington Town

Dinnington Town suffered their worst ever defeat on Saturday, on a dark day in Barnsley.

They lost 9-0 to high flying Shaw Lane Aquaforce, and without the heroics of keeper Marcus Weston, the margin of defeat would have been even larger.

Town also lost key players Tom Fairweather and Jamie Roper to add to their already long injury list.

Shaw Lane are clearly a club with ambition; they have a lovely ground, a good side and sound finacial backing.

But even with these disadvantages Town’s efforts were disappointing.

Starting with two new defenders, Kingsley Lewin and Nick Galloway, they got off to the worst possible start when they fell 2-0 behind after only five mins.

The home attack were quich to take advantage of a hesitant Town defence with Kane Reece and Danny Frost scoring despite the efforts of keeper Weston.

Reece increased the lead to three after 27 minutes when Matt Smith was beaten by the bounce of the ball.

With half-time appraoching Frost scored his second to increase the lead to four, after more sloppy defending by the visitors.

Manager Steve Toyne rang the changes at half-time and Town came out looking in better shape and had much of the early play.

Yacine Bousanga had what was their best chance of the game on 57 minutes, but fired over the cross bar following a good attacking move.

Another good Town move led to a strong Lewin cross just evading other attackers.

But then the fllood gates opened again.

Frost completed his hat-trick before Ashley Flynn scored a quick fire treble in 13 mins.

This included the goal of the game with a powerful drive from the edge of the area, which gave Weston no chance.

Danny Barlow also got on the scorers sheet to leave the final score at 9-0.
