Four new records set by Trenton Dolphins

The first record to be broken was the Ladies 50m backstroke championship which saw 13-year-old Robyn Dand in sparkling form, demolishing the old record by over a second.

James Smith, seemingly well recovered from his recent broken arm, created a new record for the 14-year-old individual medley.

He took almost a whole second of the old time which had stood since 2003 and in doing so swam a personal best by over four seconds.

Robyn, after a suitable recovery time, again stood on the starting blocks, this time in the 100m freestyle.

The old record, which had been set in 2000, was an outstanding time for any young lady but Robyn was determined to have a go and managed to take 38/1000ths of a second off the old time with another tremendous swim.

Eleven-year-old Aaron Smith, who seems to go faster each time he does a competitive swim, broke his own record in the 9-11 years 200m backstroke by over 12 seconds, and Dolphins officials were unanimous in agreeing that this record could stand for a very long time.

Trophies and medals were presented by club president Cliff Haw and his wife June.
