Four races left for Virgin duo

WITH just four races left in the FIA World Championship, Virgin Racing commence the 2011 season run in this weekend in Korea.

This Sunday’s race at Yeongam comes just seven days after drivers Timo Glock and Jérôme D’Ambrosio battled it out in Japan at Suzuka.

The Virgin duo finished 20th and 21st respectively and D’Ambrosio enjoyed the chance to put his skills to the test against his more experienced team-mate.

“I think it was a good race,” he said.

“I had a good start and first part of the race. I’m not sure if we went for the best option regarding the strategy, as I lost my position to Timo in the pits, which is a shame.”

“But I came back on him in the end and we had a great fight but he was able to end the race ahead. It was a positive weekend for me and I’m happy with this.”

Belgian ace D’Ambrosio hopes that he can carry his recent form into this weekend’s outing in Korea.

““I feel that in the last two races in – Singapore and Japan – I’ve built up a strong momentum which I hope I can continue to the end of the season.”

“I’m learning so much with each new race and really enjoying all the new experiences.”

Glock meanwhile hopes that he can get more out of his MVR-02 car than he did last weekend.

The German driver said: “I’m looking forward to Korea but we have to look at the car set-up again as it was okay, but not magic.”

l VIRGIN Racing reserve driver Robert Wickens won the WSR FR 3.5 Championship on Sunday.

Team boss John Booth added his congratulations saying: “He has done a great job this season and was a very worthy victor after a hard fight all year.”

“We look forward to celebrating with him this weekend.”
