Four riders achieve PBs in Aegir Cycling Club’s five-mile time trial from Marton

The course, from Marton through Torksey to Torksey Lock and then retracing the outward route to finish in Marton, saw four riders, Joe Nash, Gawaine Clark, Joe Noble and Peter Hanks achieve personal best times.

On Saturday 10th September four Aegir Cycling Club members were at Aisthorpe for the Trent Valley Road Club open 10-mile time trial, three riding and Mark Clark marshalling at Harpswell turn.

Winner of the solo bike event was Rob Watkinson of Doncaster Wheelers in 22 minutes 16 seconds. In the tandem event Derek Sanderson with daughter Helen Coleman recorded 30 minutes 56 seconds, Bob Fotheringham and Stever Brown (Scunthorpe Road Club) riding tandem trike achieved 33 minutes 44 seconds, but they had chain problems.

Riders taking part in the Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club Sunday ride paused for a minute’s silence to remember the 3,000 people who died in the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York.

Peter Hanks and David Chaffey enjoyed a road ride while the mountain bike ride in the Isle of Axholme was enjoyed by Paul Reynolds, Trevor Halstead and Loll Dickenson. Daniel Nicholson took part in some of the ride.

The mountain bike ride used roads, byways and bridleways, the riders cycling through the Isle of Axholme on their outward ride which took took them through Beckingham, Gringley-on-the-Hill, Misterton, Graiselound, Haxey, Upperthorpe, Westwoodside, Epworth and Carrhouse to arrive in Belton at the Garden Centre Café for lunch.

The riders resumed the ride heading through Belton, Epworth, Low Burnham, High Burnham, Owston Ferry, East Lound, Haxey, Graiselound, Misterton and Beckingham, returning into Gainsborough alongside the River Trent

On Sunday 18th September there is a leisure ride to Ludford with lunch at the garden centre - meet Roseway at 7am for this 65-mile ride.

Also on Sunday the Jack Doncaster Trophy 15-mile time trial takes place – meet on Laughton Road near Croft Farm at 9.45am.
