Last week The News revealed that Robin was to spend last Thursday training with Red Devils staff after being selected to be one of 11 Manchester United Foundation runners representing the club at this year’s London Marathon.

At the club’s training complex he got the chance to rub shoulders with some former stars, while also catching a glimpse of the likes of Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

However, Robin admitted that gym work with the club did take his toll as he returned to action with Skegness and District Running Club at the Gainsborough and Morton 10k on Sunday.

He clocked 1:01.07 while teammates Steve Curtis (Horncastle) crossed the line in 44.14 and Minting’s Sarah Smith was timed at 56.10.

Competing in the Hull 20 for SDRC, Coningsby’s Emma Marshall-Telfer finished in 2:38.28 for second place in her category.

Melanie Standbrook, also from Horncastle, took on the Ashby (de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire) 20-miler and clocked 3:12.54.
