Coupland finishes with a flourish

The 34-year-old Bostonian, who is attached to Woodhall Spa GC, built upon last week’s tied for 53-place finish at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Lee Westwood with another competitive showing as the Tour returns to action following the long lay-off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coupland sunk five birdies in Thursday’s opening round at the Marriott Forest of Arden course as he finished four under on the par-72 course.

A par second round saw him make the cut before he added a -1 round on Saturday, which included four birdies and three bogeys.

Saving the best for last, he produced his best round of the four on Sunday.

A -5 round of 67 saw him finished tied for 15th.

The event was won by Sam Horsfield on -18.

Next up for Coupland will be the English Championship from August 6-9.

The event will be held at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club in ware, Hertfordshire.
