Dave Coupland finishes tied for ninth at English Championship

Golfer Dave Coupland finished tied for ninth at the English Championship.

The 34-year-old can look back on four impressive rounds at the European Tour event.

Coupland went into the final day at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel in Ware, Hertfordshire tied for 10th, 13 under par.

Thursday’s first round saw him finish on -2, frustrated by a double bogey and bogey on the final two holes.

But Friday saw him find his groove, finishing all 18 holes to par or better with a round of -6.

A five-under round followed on Saturday as the Bostonian, who is attached to Woodhall Spa Golf Club, climbed the leaderboard.

Today’s final round saw him begin strongly with three birdies on the first three holes.

Three further birdies and four bogeys followed as he finished the round -2 and -15 overall.

Runaway winner Andy Sullivan finished the four rounds 27 under par.
