Dave Coupland is loving life on the European Tour... and he is itching to get going again.

The campaign is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the Woodhall Spa GC member has been able to reflect upon a good start to his debut year at the continent’s top table.

“I’m loving it. I go to every tournament like a kid in a sweet shop,” the Bostonian said.

“These are the events and players I watched on TV,and now I’m here. But I still get excited every time.”

While enjoying rubbing shoulders with some of the sport’s top players, Coupland knows he is there to carve out a career on the Tour.

And that means doing the business on the course.

“There also has to be the work ethic and desire to do really well every time,” he added.

“I always have that. It’s great being on the Tour, I just hope I can get back playing as soon as possible.”

Action has been suspended since the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, with all events currently postponed or cancelled until June.

Coupland made his debut at the Australian PGA Championhip in December after earning his place on the Tour via Q School the previous month.

To date he has claimed 17,000 Euros in winnings, while the learning continues.

“I think it’s going pretty well really,” he said.

“Things were going well in certain areas and it was a good opportunity to pick things up and gain little bits of experience.

“I played with Thomas Pieters, who’s an ex-Ryder Cup player, in Qatar.

“He’s one of Europe’s best players. Playing with guys like that really gave me the chance to feel comfortable early on.”

Meanwhile, England Golf has announced it has suspended all its championships up until July 27, and including the English Schools’ Team Championship, scheduled for July 8 at Woodhall Spa.
