Late charge earns Ashton Turner thrilling play-off win

Having won at the end of January, Turner returned to Portugal two weeks later to play three more tournaments.

But a slow front nine on the final round of eight pars and a solitary birdie saw him slip further off the pace.

However, he exploded into life, carding four consecutive birdies from the 12th hole on his way to a five-under par back nine.

An 11-under-par total for 36 holes saw Turner force his way into a play-off, and with the momentum with him, the Lincolnshire golfer rolled in an uphill 40-foot putt at the third extra hole to claim a thrilling victory.
