The 144th Open: Monday finish planned at St Andrews due to high winds

The 144th Open will reach its climax on Monday, after strong winds made play impossible for most of Saturday.

Around 30 minutes of golf took place in the morning, before golf balls began to blow around on the greens.

The course has remained unplayable due to the wind, and the R&A hope to have things back underway by 4pm.

But the second weather delay of the weekend means the tournament will now be completed on Monday.

Lee Westwood and others who are yet to finish their second round will hope to do so this evening.

The third round will take place tomorrow, and the final round a day later.

Westwood has three holes left to play in his second round, and sits three under par for the tournament.

Sheffield golfer Danny Willett is the clubhouse leader on nine under.
