Westwood wins a million

THERE were one million reasons for Lee Westwood to be pleased with his form last week at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Finals.

Playing in the medal matchplay tournament at the Antalya Golf Club, in Belek Antalya, Westwood went all the way to the final where he was beaten by fellow Ryder Cup hero Justin Rose.

But Westwood was handsomely rewarded for his performance, winning $1million after beating Webb Simpson, Hunter Mahan and Charl Schwartzel.

“I’m just pleased to be playing well and getting back in the swing of things after the Ryder Cup, with no hangover from that,” he said.

“It’s nice obviously. I have been successful in golf and done very well, and I am in the fortunate position now of going to tournaments with the sole purpose of trying to win.”

“I know what a luxury I have to play this game and play it for fortunes – it’s not often you see me miserable is it? I try and play with a smile because I know how lucky I am.”
