Good start halted by the rain

Freiston LL 166-2 v Baston – match abandoned.

Richard Paul and Abdul Moeed both scored 63 as they shared a 106-run partnership for the second wicket against Baston.

However, heavy rain put pay to the good work by the Freiston, Leake and Leverton batsmen as a waterlogged pitch halted proceedings after 39 overs.

Freiston lost Waseem Ilyas early for nine as he was trapped LBW by Hilless.

Baston pressurised the Freiston pair with some accurate opening bowling.

However, Paul and Moeed showed good discipline and patience and some deserved luck to see off the new ball.

After that batting became easier as the pair accelerated.

Paul went for 63, but Zeeshan Saeed increased the scoring rate with an aggressive 26, before rain ended the game with Freiston looking good.
