Guest riders in Trent Valley’s Sunday social

For the first time in two years the starting point for the ride changed and this week the 20 strong group of riders rolled off from Costa Coffee on Marshalls Yard shopping complex in Gainsborough at the usual time of 9am.

Several guest cyclists also joined the ride, including father and son Liam and Matt Hindmarsh wearing Dinnington Road Club colours and Micheal Adlington wearing Velo Club Lincoln Colours.

The route this week was a short and modest ride of 34 miles with around 500ft of climbing.

Notable achievement for the day included Paul Freeman who completed his ascent of St Georges Hill Glentworth in 41 seconds to power his way to King of the Mountain on the Strava segment.

All riders battled their way along the routes various obstacles and enjoyed the infamous club ride sprints before the ride was concluded back in Gainsborough.

This week the racing secretary has confirmed the details of the Reliability Trials for the 2014 race calendar as follows; Sunday 12th January 23 miles, Sunday 26th January 28 miles, Sunday 9th of February 33 miles, Sunday 23rd February - 37 miles.

Reliability Trials are rides of set distances and routes that are completed within a chosen time limit.

Voting for Trent Valley Road Clubs most coveted trophies “Crank of the year” and “Most Valued Member” started on Monday 9th December.

These trophies will be presented along with the competitive trophies during a social gathering over the Christmas period.
