Harriers clean up

The Worksop Harriers junior athletes (pictured) cleaned up at the Notts Mini League Sportshall competition.

The youngsters were crowned overall club champions, Mark Hardwick and Emily Race won ‘Athlete of the Year’ awards, and the Under 11 and 15 girls and Under 15 boys teams all won their age sections outright.

Hardwick also picked up a trophy for the league’s outstanding shot putter.

A delighted Michelle Harrop, a Harriers coach, paid tribute to the work ethic as the team made club history.

“It was a brilliant performance by all the athletes,” she said.

“They have all been really dedicated to achieve this. As the club has never won this league before, to do so in such a dominant fashion, winning every meeting and coming away with seven trophies is unbelievable. I must also thank all the parents for their support in getting so many children to the all the events – it’s been a headache working out who’s doing what with so many youngsters – but the results makes it all worthwhile.”
