Hectic week of races for Bassetlaw riders

Bassetlaw bike aces Andy Bishop and Callum Lawson are showing no signs of slowing down, as the race calendar continues to maintain its hectic pace.

The duo and the Andy Moore Autocentres Race team began their week at the York Sport Village Race Circuit.

A highly competitive race saw Adam Turner, Damien Shakespeare, Worksop’s Bishop and Danny Featherstone aiming to maintain their impressive form.

A well organised team plan ran to schedule, with Turner sprinting impressively from the last corner to take the victory.

Team mate Shakespeare rolled in close behind to add to his impressive points tally this season.

Thursday saw the team move on the the superb Prissick Circuit at Middlesbrough, where another highly disciplined performance brought a well deserved third place on the podium for rising star Danny Featherstone.

Team manager Andy Moore rode a supporting role to assist Featherstone.

The best was yet to come, however, as a magnificent pair of performances on Sunday saw the men launch a two pronged attack.

Tom Sutton contested the ever popular Darley Moor Closed Circuit Race, where a powerful final sprint brought a comfortable victory for the local rider.

The rest of the team travelled to Lincolnshire, for the Gerry Thurlow Cup Annual Road Race.

The team of Shakespeare, Bishop and Retford’s Lawson were joined by Adam Turner.

Turner did not disappoint, and in the main bunch sprint, showed his form and took the second placed spot, beating the rest of the peloton.

Shakespeare came in seventh, scoring yet more points for the team.

Team Manager Moore was ecstatic at the performances.

He said: “The lads have an astonishing focus and determination at the moment.”

“It has proved to be the most successful week of racing since the team’s conception, and we have yet to scratch the surface on what these guys will achieve.”
