Canicross Midlands has teamed up with Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign as part of a national drive to raise money for charity.

They are inviting women to take part in Canicross – where individuals attach themselves to their dog and charge across the countryside through mud and over hills.

They are asking people to run in fancy dress, give a donation to run and hold a cake sale on Saturday at Chambers Woods, Market Rasen. The event begins at 9am.

All you need to take part is sports clothes, trainers and a fearless This Girl Can attitude.

Anne-Marie Davison from Canicross Midlands, said: “I got involved because I just needed to do something – and this seemed like something I could enjoy.

“Running with the dogs means that I can’t give excuses as they don’t accept them. They don’t mind if I’m as fast as everyone else, as long as we’re out there giving it a go.”

Julia Winters from Canicross Midlands, said: “I started running after I had my second child to get back into shape.

“I now run with my dog because running without them is nowhere near as much fun.”

More This Girl Can activities for Sport Relief are taking place across Lincolnshire with an estimated 200 women and girls expected to take part.

It has been co-ordinated by Lincolnshire Sport which aims to encourage more people, to be more active, more often.

Funds raised through Sport Relief will help transform lives across the UK and the world’s poorest communities.

The activities in Lincolnshire are part of a national campaign - so women who get sweaty are part of a nationwide effort to do something active and amazing for people in need.
