We were all glued to our screens as British athletes scooped an impressive haul of medals.

Hide AdThere were golden moments galore, from Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony to judo star Gemma Gibbons looking skywards and mouthing, “I love you, Mum” after winning silver.
The event made heroes of the likes of Bradley Wiggins, Jessica Ennis and Ellie Simmonds, and turned presenter Clare Balding into a national treasure.
