Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’

AFTER a frustrating weekend, our racing service returned with a bang yesterday. Let’s hope we can double up today.

Tuesday October 2

CHANCERY

Wolverhampton 4.30 WIN

Considering he’s a well-bred sort, from the family of 2002 Champion Stakes winner Storming Home, David O’Meara’s four-year-old was an incredibly cheap buy at 6,500 guineas. But he’s already done the talented trainer proud, landing a gamble on his debut, showing useful form in National Hunt Bumpers and finishing second on his belated Flat debut at Ripon in August. Given that he barely stays 2m, a career on the level, rather than over hurdles, is more likely for the gelded son of Street Cry. Indeed I hear that O’Meara is already thinking in terms of next year’s Ebor Handicap at York. If that’s the case, he must go close in this ordinary maiden company today.
