Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’

LUCK was against us yesterday when our heavily-backed selection was pipped by a neck. Here is today’s fancy from Scoop Racing (Richard Silverwood):

Wednesday October 3

GREATWOOD

Salisbury 1.30 WIN

Trainer Luca Cumani has always insisted that this good-looking two-year-old would be trained cautiously with next year in mind. But his debut performance at Leicester last month was so taking that he will be hoping to win this maiden. Running on in eyecatching fashion from the rear, the son of Manduro finished second, splitting a talented Mark Johnston filly (Penny Rose), who has since gone on to win a decent Conditions race, and a well-regarded Jeremy Noseda favourite (Intimidate), whose maiden form stands up to the closest scrutiny. Given that the Galileo dam is a half-sister to renowned Irish Derby and Ascot Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory, this step-up to 1m is sure to suit.

SUNDAY: SANJURO 3RD (7/2)
