Catterick 2.45 EACH/WAY

Micky Hammond’s four-year-old is one of the most annoyingly named horses in training. But he’s also a tough customer and might just be able to upset two or three highly-rated, older recruits from the Flat in this competitive novice hurdle. The pick of those Flat-breds is Sea Lord, who won a Group Three, as well as the Totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood, when with Mark Johnston back in 2010. He even finished a close fifth in the Irish Champion Stakes, so I am under no illusions that if John Ferguson has him back to his best, he will win. However, he’s shown little or nothing on the level for Godolphin in the last two years, while Hammond’s charge ran an encouraging second on his timber debut at Wetherby over Christmas and should offer value in the market. With capable claimer Joe Colliver taking off 7lb, the son of Trade Fair has an enticing pull of almost a stone and a half from his main rivals.
