Indoor bowls club celebrate season with presentations

West Lindsey Indoor Bowls Club held a presentation evening for the 2016-17 season that involved eight league and six knockouts competitions '” with many settled only in the closing stages.

Dave Copley and Les Savage won three trophies — the Monday Evening Pairs league, the Open Triples knockout with Merv Johnson and the Friday Evening Triples league with Tom Whiteley and Ray Robinson.

Jim Allsopp had a very good season, winning the Australian Pairs knockout with Freda Allsopp. The two then teamed up with Philip Pearson, Keith Clarke and Audrey Rogers to lift the Friday Mixed Triples league.

Jim was also part of the teams that were runners-up in the Thursday Daytime Australian Pairs league, the Monday Evening Pairs league, and the Friday Evening Triples league.

Geoff Gray got his name on to the Singles trophy and also won the Open Pairs with Dave Childs.

Malcolm Moody and John Hunt won the Thursday Australian Pairs league with Bill Turner and, with Marlene Mays, Dorothy Moyes and Maureen Featherstone they took the Monday Daytime Triples league.

Ian Hatton, Roy Hargreaves, and Andy Scatcherd won the Tuesday Australian Pairs for the first time and Denise Jones was first-time winner of the Ladies’ Single.

The Wednesday Sets was settled on the last end of the last match as Rita Procter, Dave Childs, Dave Hall and Daphne Staff emerged victorious.

Anyone wanting to try bowls can attend drives every Saturday at 1.30pm.
