International call-up for Boston Tennis Club's Mike Burnett

Boston Tennis Club’s Mike Burnett is looking forward to the return of outdoor sport after being selected to represent Wales.

Mike, a coach at the Sleaford Road club, has been called up to compete in the over 60s age group in the Tennis Home Internationals against Scotland, Ireland and England.

With only being able to return to court to play tennis from March 29, he will be making the most of his chance to get his fitness levels up ahead of the tournament, which takes place between May 1 and 3 at Nottingham Tennis Centre.

Fixtures for matches in the LTA’s National League have been released.

Last year Boston’s Ladies’ team, captained by Danielle Frankish, gained promotion to the National Division.

The team has to play home matches against Loughborough, West Bridgford and Warwick Boat Club, with away fixtures at Edgbaston Priory, Lady Bay and Grantham.

Meanwhile, the Boston Men’s team are in the East Midlands Regional Division for 2021 with fixtures at home against Leicester Forest East, Louth and Grantham.

The team are away at Lutterworth Tennis Club, Derbyshire Tennis Club, Charnwood and West Bridgford.

Two junior teams are in the Premier Division of the LTA’s National League.

The 14 and under girls are in tier one and will play Edgbaston, David Lloyd Cambridge and Wolverhampton Tennis Club.

The 18 and under boys are in tier two. Their opposition will be David Lloyd Lincoln, Leicestershire Tennis and Squash Club and Ashby Castle.
