It's a perfect 10 for table tennis ace Brian

The table tennis ace played on through the pain barrier to win a singles and doubles crown at the Southern Masters in Crawley.

And in doing so, the 71-year-old ensured that he has now won all 10 of the over 70s Veterans English Table Tennis Society Masters tournaments that he has entered.

And if that wasn’t enough, he has also won nine of the 10 doubles competitions as well.

“I pulled a calf muscle and didn’t know whether I was going to take part,” Brian, from Wyberton, admitted.

“But I decided to give it a go, and I was happy to say that I won both the singles and doubles.”

Brian earned a straight sets victory over old rival Peter Radford (6, 8, 10) in the final of the over 70s men’s category.

He and partner Roy Norton then went on to win their doubles final without dropping a set (9, 8, 9).

Brian also competed in the over 60s singles, but as this was played later on his injury got the better of him and he withdrew from the event.

The country’s number one-ranked over 70s player now has one eye on success at the World Veteran Table Tennis Championships which will be held in Spain, later this year.
