It's time to show that This Girl Can play netball

Stickney’s Back to Netball team has teamed up with Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign as part of a national drive to raise money for charity.

They are holding a netball versatility night – where players take turns at playing in each position –a cake sale at half time and donate £1 for every goal scored during the session.

It will take place on Tuesday, March 8 (International Women’s Day) from 7pm–8.30pm at William Lovell Academy, Main Road, Stickney.

All you need to take part is sports clothes and trainers.

Jo West, Stickney Back to Netball Coach, said: “We are a group of about 30 ladies of mixed ages from 24-56 that meet up each week to play netball for fun and fitness.

“We also enter the Lincolnshire tournaments which are five times per year.

“Most of my ladies hadn’t played netball since school and now love it.”

More This Girl Can activities for Sport Relief are taking place across Lincolnshire with an estimated 200 women and girls expected to take part.

It has been co-ordinated by Lincolnshire Sport which aims to encourage more people, to be more active, more often.

Janet Inman, Chief Executive Officer at Lincolnshire Sport, said: “Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign is a fantastic way to encourage more women to take part in sport, and we’re huge advocates at Lincolnshire Sport.

“What better reason to get out your trainers and try a new sport than for Sport Relief?

“We hope ladies across Lincolnshire feel inspired to get involved.”

Funds raised through Sport Relief will help transform lives across the UK and the world’s poorest communities.

The activities in Lincolnshire are part of a national campaign.
