Jacklin takes pairs title in Luxembourg

Gainsborough darts star Paula Jacklin’s 12-hour drive to Luxembourg was well worth it, as she returned with the Ladies Pairs title.

Jacklin, and her partner Rachel Brooks, beat every international pairing at the Luxembourg Darts Open.

Although the local woman lost out to Yorkshire’s Brookes in the singles event the next day, after missing double top for a 115 checkout, Jacklin can call 2013 a successful year. She’s won the Scottish Open Ladies Pairs and the Ghent Mixed Pairs, reached the final four of the national singles and made the finals of 10 international events, including the Dutch Open – the biggest of the lot.

Jacklin told the Standard she’s planning an even more impressive assault on the darts rankings next season.

She said: “I travelled and worked hard all year, virtually every weekend, to pick up the points.”

“I’m currently ranked sixth in England and 19th in the Winmau World Invitation table.”

“The aim was top 20 for this season, and with the new season starting in two weeks I’m hoping this time next year I will be inside the world’s top 12 ladies, with an invitation to the World Professional at lakeside.”
