Joseph scoops six county golds in pool

Boston Amateur Swimming Club youngsters have scooped a series of medals at the county finals.

Joseph Vickers claimed six titles in his age category, while Harley Maddison and Oliver Sydenham also won golds at the Lincolnshire County Amateur Swimming Association Championships.

Meanwhile, Paralympic hopeful Connor Boyfield also took part.

Despite not placing against able-bodied swimmers, the Fenside Fish, as he is nicknamed, collected a series of personal best times ahead of next month’s East and West Midlands Championships in Nottingham.

The boys’ 10-11 years 100m butterfly was won by Joseph Vickers (1:16-53) with teammates Jack Robinson third and Rico Bringeman fourth.

He once again pipped Jack into second to win the 50m butterfly (35-01).

Joseph also won the 100m intermediate in a time of 1:18-91, the 50m backstroke (37-05, the 100m breaststroke (1:32-05) and the 100m backstroke (1:15-66).

He also finished third in the 50m freestyle and second in the 100m freestyle in his age category.

Harley Maddison won the girls’ 14 years 100m butterfly (1:08-49) and was also second in the 100m intermediate and third in the 100m backstroke.

Alfie Prudden was third in the boys’ 13 years 100m butterfly.

In the girls’ 12 years 100m butterfly Katie Scott finished second, adding second in the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke and a third in the 100m breaststroke.

The boys’ 12 years 50m backstroke saw Oliver Sydenham finish second, but he claimed a first place in the 100m backstroke and a further second in the 100m freestyle.

Lewis Bontoft was second in the boys’ 14 years 50m backstroke

In the girls’ 15 years 100m breaststroke Kieva Clegg was the runner-up.
