Kickboxing club produces four national champs

The Evolution Martial Arts members left with four golds, three silvers and two bronzes.

Nesta Baxter became a two-time British champion, with Mark Baldry and Talon Chambers also claiming the accolade.

Nesta won both the girls’ older cadet (13-15 years) -55kg and girls’ junior (16-18 years) -55kg events.

This saw her defend the two titles she won last year.

Mark fought in the continuous kickboxing +94kg Veteran Men’s category, winning the title after last year’s success in the Men’s Veteran -94kg category.

Nine-year-old Talon won the Boys’ -10 years +37kg continuous category to make it four champions from one club.

Talon also fought in the Boys’ -10year old +37kg points, where he claimed a bronze medal.

Kev Hunter claimed a silver medal in his Men’s -84kg continuous category after some great wins, while Mackenzie Warrant, nine, placed second in the Boys’ -10 years -32kg continuous category.

Chelsea Leggatt fought in the Junior Girls (16-18 years) -70kg continuous category, where she claimed a silver after narrowly losing to a Team GB fighter in the final.

Ben Watson, who fought in the Men’s -74kg continuous category, came away with a bronze medal in a very tough division.

Riley Brocklesby, Archie Lenton, Zac Baldry, Paige Stedman, Vicki Bradford, Leah Stedman, Harry Lenton, John Chambers and Becky Hourihan all came away with runner-up accolades but had some top class performances and gave everything in their fighting.

All of the competitors who placed at the British Championships have now been invited to train with the Great Britain National team and have the opportunity to try and get a place on the GB squad for 2016.

Team Evolution will be fighting in Dublin, Ireland at the prestigious Irish Open 2016 from this Friday.
