Legendary Runners claim victory at Boston and District AC sportshall round

Saturday's match in the Boston and District AC series of Junior Sportshall Athletics events at the B-Hive saw The Legendary Runners just pipping runners-up Haven't A Clue by a mere 14 points.

Under 13 Hallam Bedford led The Legendary Runners, recording 11.8 secs for the one-lap run and 35.2 secs for three-laps. Hallam also cleared 1.60m in the standing long jump and 5.28m for the standing triple jump.

Megan Reid (under 11) provided good support, achieving a total of 61 in speed bounce, a distance of 1.65m in standing long jump and an encouraging 39.4 secs for three-laps.

Under nine Issy Reid improved to 13.8secs in the one-lap and 44.7 secs for three-laps and cleared 3.36m in the standing triple jump to contribute to The Legendary Runners’ total points score.

Matthew Lewis (under 11) also made a considerable contribution to the winning team’s points total.

In speed bounce he notched up a total of 64 and recorded 13.1 secs for one-lap and 5.32m in standing long jump.

Completing the Legendary Runners team was under nine competitor Jessica Frick, who produced a series of encouraging performances in both track and field events.

Recording 13.7 secs for one-lap and 39.5 secs for three-laps, Jessica also achieved 43 for speed bounce and a height of 22cm in vertical jump.

Haddley Bedford (under 11) spearheaded the Haven’t A Clue challenge, producing the best performance on the day in both speed bounce, achieving a total of 67, and vertical jump, with a leap of 45cm.

Times of 12.5 secs for one-lap and 37.1 secs for three-laps got the team off to a good start.

Rosie Owen recorded 13.2 secs over one-lap and cleared 3.48m in standing triple jump and reached a height of 29cm in vertical jump.

Under 11 Elize Dawson impressed across the range of events, clocking 13.0 secs over one-lap and 39.6 secs over the three-laps race. She went on to record 51 in the speed bounce, 28cm in vertical jump and 3,90m in standing triple jump to give Haven’t a Clue a valuable points boost.

Alice Frick (under 11) cleared 3.66m in standing long jump and clocked 13.3 secs for the one-lap event and 41.4 secs for three-laps.

Under seven Leah Frick recorded 53.7 secs for three-laps and cleared 2.68m in standing long jump to assist Haven’t a Clue to a total of 162 points.
