Louth bowler in the hunt for county honours

His two wins in the LIBA county sets singles qualifiers played at Louth saw him qualify for the semi-finals to be played at Lincoln on Sunday, April 2.

He beat Richard White, of Boston, and then followed up with victory against club colleague Simon Reeson.

Dent also qualified for the county IBA mixed pairs semi-finals, also at Lincoln on April 2, as he and Val Sherry squeezed through after an excellent match against a Sleaford pair.

The Louth duo trailed for most of the match, but won the last two ends to grab a 15-14 win.

Dent is in action on Sunday at Boston in the separate EBF county finals when he and Rachael Stanley play in the mixed pairs. They will be accompanied by clubmates Chris Hanslip and Gary Bell who play in the men’s pairs

* Louth ladies enjoyed an emphatic 129-60 aggregate shots victory in their county home match against Scunthorpe thanks to solid wins on four of the five rinks.

The biggest winning margin was the four of Sylvia Stainton, Chris Love, Joan Stones and Liz Draper which cruised to a 37-10 win after initially leading 27-0.

Team captain Jean Holdsworth led her rink to an 18-shot victory, while Val Sherry’s rink won by 15 shots and Tina Reeson’s rink won by 11 shots.

* In the club’s leagues, the first title has been decided with Fast Shippers 17-14 win over Faster Shippers securing them the Evening EBF Two-bowl Triples title with four games to spare after second-placed Humberstone lost 22-11 to Les Miserabowls.

* The battle for the Evening Fours title intensified when Rockset hammered Alford 40-3 to go one point clear of previous leaders Fast Shippers who surprisingly lost 16-11 to Stags.

Third-placed APS closed the gap to one point with a 19-8 win over Roundheads, while Chalkers still have an outside chance of a challenge after beating Blossom Way 22-15.
