Magpies produced two wins last week to remain the only unbeaten team and stay one point ahead of defending champions Highgate Wanderers.

The trio of George and Gill Chesman with Mike Norton were in good form to beat Lightning 33-6 before a change of personnel saw Neil Castle team up with Martin and Linda Oldfield in a topsy-turvy game against Hornets, recovering from 12-11 down with scores of four and three over the last two ends to win 18-12.

The Jays picked up two wins as they beat Mudlarks 15-13 and Two Plus One 15-7 to go fourth, one point behind Dreamers who fought back from 10-2 down and grabbed three shots on the final end to shade In A Minute 13-12.

* The Australian Pairs competition has yet to take proper shape, but the Brian Paffey-Charles Dewar partnership have won their first three games in Section A, the latest a steady 22-9 victory over Maureen Dewar and Audrey Winn.

John Williams and Joan Foster also have three wins from three games in Section B after beating Barry Jordan and Pat Morley 15-6.
